Watch how Duquesne impossibly blew a +5.5 cover in a tie game with 5 seconds left against Penn State

December 20, 2018 By AM 1530

Anyone that has ever gambled on sports knows you can never chalk up a win until the clock hits 0:00, and last night’s Penn State/Duquesne basketball game was a perfect example.

Duquesne was listed as a +5.5 underdog against the Nittany Lions, and bettors who took the points were on the verge of counting their winnings with the game tied at 67 with just over 5 seconds left in regulation. That’s when one of the all-time crushing gambling beats of unfolded.

Duquesne head coach – and LeBron’s former high school coach – Keith Dambrot lost it after a foul was called that sent Penn State to the line for the potential game winning free throws. He received a double technical and was ejected, which resulted in four free throws to go along with the two for the foul.

You can guess what happened next. Penn State guard Rasir Bolton stepped to the line and knocked down all six for a 73-67 win and making anyone who had Duquesne +5.5 physically sick. It’s a tough beat, but if you have big money riding on a Wednesday night Penn State/Duquesne game, you probably have a gambling problem anyway. If you had the Nittany Lions and the points, it was an early Christmas miracle.

What a way to end the game.

Tied at 67 with 5 seconds remaining, technicals were handed out to Duquesne coach Keith Dambrot after a foul resulting in SIX straight FT’s for @PennStateMBB to secure the victory. pic.twitter.com/r10cvdYCUH
