The list of unwritten rules in Major League Baseball is never-ending, but that’s not the case in the Venezuelan winter league. Last night, Twins catcher Willians Astudillo hit a monster bomb in his team’s Venezuelan Winter League postseason game, and decided to toss aside all the unwritten rules while admiring it and circling the bases.
Astudillo’s swing brought him to his knees, and he decided that was a great vantage point to admire it from while using his bat as an arm rest while it left the yard. He then kept the party going around the bases and into the dug out with a celebration that would certainly result in a fastball in the ear the next time up in the bigs.
Well, this isn’t the big leagues, and a little fun never hurt anyone. The call isn’t bad either.
