The stories of Micheal Jordan’s competitiveness during his playing days are legendary, and during last night’s game between the Hornets and Pistons, the now 55-year-old Charlotte owner turned back the clock by giving second year guard Malik Monk a vintage scolding for getting T’d up for running on the court after Jeremy Lamb hit the apparent game winner with .3 seconds still on the clock.
The Hornets won the game, but Jordan didn’t let Monk of the hook. A seething MJ pulled him aside by the bench and scolded him for potentially costing Charlotte the game and finished off the talking to by smacking Monk in the back of the head as he walked away. To be clear, it was more of a pissed off dad smack than a Steve Kerr punch.
One thing’s for sure, Monk learned his lesson. Nobody wants a pissed off MJ in their kitchen, even at 55.
