The U.S. and Russia have been competing for technological superiority since the Cold War, and it appears the rooskies have been reduced to taking some some shortcuts to keep up.
In a recent Russian youth robotics forum, held to encourage younger kids to get involved in robotics engineering, a seemingly advanced robot named ‘Boris’ was brought onto the stage and touted as a legitimately advanced A.I. creation, but after some people started doing some digging, it was all exposed as fake news.
Here’s footage of Boris crushing the tech conference with his “life-like” abilities, and his follow-up appearance on a Russian news program where they were still pushing the lie:
The robot was intended to show Russian tech superiority, but it turns out it was so incredibly human-like because it was, well, a human. It was discovered that the “robot” was identical to an expensive robot costume sold by a company called Show Robots. The costume is designed to be used at parties, not for leverage in the renewed Cold War.
Add this little gem to Putin’s greatest hits highlight reel. Come on down to Silicon Valley Vlad, we’ll show you what the real stuff looks like.
Watch this to see how Boris was uncovered as a sham.
