Colin’s NFL Week 6 Blazin’ 5

October 12, 2018 By AM 1530

After pushing in Week 4, Colin’s Blazin’ 5 got back on the winning side in Week 5, going 3-2 and taking him to a rock solid 15-9-1 heading into Week 6. This week he’s ready to keep the good juju rolling and stuff the wallets of the loyal listening audience. Winners, winners, surf ‘n turf for dinner.

Here are Colin’s Week 6  Blazin’ 5 plays:

  1. Chargers at Browns (+1) – Colin likes the Browns getting a point in the Dawg Pound against the Chargers. Baker Mayfield has been getting all the media love, but the Cleveland D has gone from worst in 2017 to first in the NFL in takeaways with 15 through 5 weeks. The Browns also have the 2nd best rushing attack in the league with their 3 headed monster of Carlos Hyde, Nick Chubb and Duke Johnson racking up 144.6 YPG. They should wear out a 28th ranked Chargers 3rd down D (44.8% conversion rate) that struggles to get off the field. Take Cleveland, the point, and outright. 27-24 Browns.

2. Colts (+2.5) at Jets – Colin is rolling with Andrew Luck and the Colts getting 2.5 heading into MetLife to face the fighting Sam Darnolds. Even without much around him, Andrew Luck has been beyond impressive 5 weeks into his comeback, leading the NFL in Completion % (66.5), Passing YPG (298.2), and TD Passes/Game (2.4). The Jets rank last in the league in red zone TD %(35.71), and field goals instead of touchdowns will cost them here. Take Indy, the points, and outright. 30-24, Indy.

3. Pittsburgh (+2.5) at Bengals – Colin loves the Steelers getting points in Cincy against Andy Dalton in a rivalry they’ve dominated recently. In their last five head-to-heads, Dalton is 0-5 with 8 giveaways and scoring only 18.0 PPG, while Big Ben has averaged 380.8 Pass YPG and putting up 26.6 PPG. Pittsburgh has been getting after opposing QB’s with an NFL leading 19 sacks, and should harass the Red Rifle. Take the Steelers, the 2.5. They win in a shootout, 31-30. Pittsburgh.

4. Rams at Broncos (+7) – Colin is taking the Broncos getting 7 at home against undefeated Rams. L.A. has been unstoppable on offense, but there defense has been trending downward. After giving up an average of 12 PPG, and 296.0 YPG with 6 Takeaways and allowing 4 TD’s in their first 6 games, they’ve allowed 31 PPG, 409.5 YPG, and only have 1 takeaway while allowing 6 TD’s in their last 2. Denver’s 3rd ranked rushing attack (137.0 YPG) should dominate time of possession and shorten the game. Take Denver, the points and the upset at Mile High. 28-27, Broncos.

5. Jags (-3) at Cowboys – Colin likes the Jags as 3-point road favorites against the struggling Cowboys offense. The Jacksonville defense ranks 1st in Total YPG (292.2) and Pass YPG Allowed (191.0), is tied for 3rd in PPG Allowed (17.2), and 5th in Opponent 3rd Down Conversion % (30.77% conversion rate. They should suffocate a Dallas offense that ranks 30th in PPG (16.6), Pass YPG (172.0) and 3rd Down Conversion % (28.33), and 28th in Total YPG (307.8). Dak has thrown for 1 or fewer TD’s in 10 of his last 13 starts, and passed for 250 yards or less in 14 of his last 16. It doesn’t get better this week against a motivated Jags coming off a disappointing loss to the Chiefs. Take Jacksonville, swallow the 3. 27-20, Jags.
