Colin’s NFL Week 3 Blazin’ 5

September 21, 2018 By AM 1530

Colin is coming off his second straight 3-2 week and is a respectable 6-4 to start the NFL season. He loves the slate of games in Week 3 and is ready to go on a heater to the benefit of the bank accounts of the loyal listening audience.

Here are Colin’s Week 3 Blazin’ 5 plays:

  1. Colts (+6.5) at Eagles – Carson Wentz makes his first start of the season. at home, for the defending Super Bowl Champion Eagles, but Colin likes the Colts and Andrew Luck getting 6.5 here. Luck and the Colts lead the NFL in converting 61% of their 3rd down attempts, and will face a Philly d that just got torched for 402 yards and 4 TD’s by Ryan Fitzmagic, including two 75-yard scores. Colin thinks Philly wins, but will go conservative in Wentz’s first game back, allowing Indy to cover. 26-24, Eagles.

2. Bengals (+3) at Panthers – Colin is rolling with the Bengals getting a field goal heading to Charlotte to face Cam and the Panthers. Cincy is on a 4-game winning streak dating back to last season and averaging 31.3 PPG in those games. Through two games this season, Andy Dalton has looked like the Red Rifle with 6 TD’s, 1 INT, and a 108.5 passer rating. Colin likes Carolina’s defensive front seven, but they’ve surrendered touchdowns on all 5 of their opponents’ red zone drives so far this season. Take Cincy, the 3, and outright. 27-24, Bengals.

3. Giants (+6) at Texans – The Giants have been awful through 2 weeks, but Colin likes them getting 6 heading into Houston to face Deshaun Watson and the Texans. The Giants offense has been sputtering, but their defense ranks 2nd in Pas YPG allowed (164.0), 6th in Total YPG (301.5), and 10th in PPG allowed (20.0). They’ll face Watson who, according to Pro Football Focus, has been under pressured on an NFL high 47.6% of his dropbacks. Houston has also been penalized a 17 times through 2 weeks (T-5th in the NFL). Big Blue’s D will help them cover the 6, and they win this one outright. 23-20, G-Men.

4. Packers at Redskins (+3) –  Colin likes Washington as a 3 -point home dog against the Packers and a less than 100% healthy Aaron Rodgers. Washington has been known as an offensive team under Jay Gruden, but they rank 1st in the league in Total Defense (247.0 YPG) and Pass D (161.0 YPG). They also rank 2nd in PPG allowed (13.5), 3rd in Yards Per Play (4.6), and are holding opposing QB’s to a meager 67.0 Passer Rating (4th lowest in the NFL). Each of the Packers first two games have been decided by a point or less. Take Washington, the points, and outright. 30-28, Redskins.

5. Cowboys at Seahawks (-1.5) – Russell Wilson and the Seahawks laying 1.5 at home against an offensively deficient Dallas is his play of the week. Wilson is 38-10 at home in his career, and only Tom Brady has more home wins than Wilson since 2012. Seattle should feast on a Cowboy offense that’s been awful so far this season. The Dallas O is tied for 29th in PPG (14.9), 30th in Total YPG (265.0), 30th in Pass YPG (149.0), and 31st in 3rd Down Conversion % (23.8). Additionally, Dak Prescott hasn’t thrown a TD in 6 of his last 10 starts, and has been under 200 yards in 8 of his last 10. Take the Hawks, lay the 1.5. Seattle comfortably here, 28-17.
