Baker Mayfield recently got it in hot water in the Cleveland locker room for publicly commenting on Duke Johnson’s contract situation, but his slap on the wrist hasn’t stopped him from letting opinions fly when the mic is on.
Mayfield recently hopped on for an interview with Sports Talk 1400 in Norman and used the opportunity to talk some trash about Sooner rival Texas and Longhorn QB Sam Ehlinger. Mayfield made it clear that he doesn’t think Texas is “back,” and added that Ehlinger is a distant third among quarterbacks to come out of Dallas’ renowned Westlake High School quarterback factory – behind Drew Brees and Nick Foles – and that he doesn’t like the guy.
It’s mostly harmless college rivalry smack talk, but it does kind of feel like punching down coming from an NFL QB.
